Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency with which you need to manually vacuum. Choose one that has excellent navigation, is able to clean stairs and corners and has a huge dust bin that needs emptying only once in a while.
You can also find models that clean and charge on their own This feature could be beneficial for those with pets or kids. The top performers in our tests have excellent ability to overcome obstacles.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO, are identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great option for those looking for an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it is full.
Both robots are proficient at picking up surface dirt on carpets and hard floors and can move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots that we tested, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces like from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes putting away any clutter or toys it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they don't become clogged with dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it began. Battery life is about an hour and a half of constant usage. It takes 3 hours to charge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest technology. It is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This removes the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, which allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can direct your robot using the app or via voice.
In our tests the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our top choice and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and cuts down on recurring costs.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room and vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. We were able, once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car that is amidst a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum in most households however, it can also fit nicely on the coffee table or shelves where you can wave it around like a magic tool.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets, and then pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to match the task at hand. It quickly converts from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back.
This model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also provides an easy access to two attachments as well as a wand. This is a major improvement over previous Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its short run time. As CR's tests show, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a typical not an extraordinary time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's still enough time to clean most of an average-sized house but not long enough to cover every area (though a second run-through usually can be effective). best automatic vacuum has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is significantly better for carpet floors with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of the most well-known robot vacuums The 694 is an affordable model that's an excellent option for those who don't wish to spend too much on a robot. It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our tests, and it often goes over the same areas several times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice feature.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models like our top choices such as the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it often runs out of battery power before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 in that it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower recurring cost and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and can better navigate its own. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled with your smartphone's voice assistance. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a brand is seen on a variety of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're one of the most popular robotic vacuum and mop makers. Jet Bot AI+ has a cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app gives you plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior modification docking frequency settings and much more. The app is simple to navigate and use, just like other Samsung devices.
In our testing, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86 percent of it. However, it wasn't particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also more expensive than the other models we've tested which could be a problem for some buyers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that can be accessed via the app, and you can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you keep track of your pets or children when you're away from home. The filter and the dust bin can be cleaned for quick, painless cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ also has a clean station that's self-emptying, which helps keep the robot's dustbin clean and optimizes suction power for each cleaning run.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for hard flooring. The robots have an extra-wide cleaning path and a dustbin that is 2X larger than the competition. This lets them clean the area for longer. They also have two side sweepers to clean along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model comes with AutoSense technology, which detects whether it's picking up dirt on surfaces or embedded dirt and automatically adjusts the power level. The vacuum also comes with an app that allows you to view an interactive map, control functions, and create schedules. You can also monitor the vacuum's battery status and return it to its dock for charging at the push of a button. The app lets you modify the LEDs on the top of the vacuum so that you can determine where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.
The app allows you to manually steer the robot, if necessary. For example my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that tends to make it difficult for other robots I've tested. However, the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border without registering it as an incline. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
